1U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2620 v3 CPUs, 48 GB DDR4 and H730 RAID controller supporting eight 2.5-inch drives
Installed Memory Size 48GB
HDD None
The Dell PowerEdge R630 is a 1U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with six cores. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots and includes a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller with 2 GB cache supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation.
This configuration fits environments that need high core density and large memory capacity in a single rack unit, such as virtualisation hosts, database servers or compute clusters. The 24 DIMM slots allow memory to scale with demand. Buyers who require GPU acceleration, 10 GbE connectivity as standard or more than eight drive bays should consider other platforms, as the Matrox G200 video and quadruple 1 GbE daughter card limit those roles.
The chassis accepts up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives connected to the H730 controller, which delivers 12 Gbps throughput and supports RAID levels up to 60. Maximum supported drive capacity is 14 TB per bay, giving substantial raw storage potential in a 1U form factor. The dedicated PERC slot leaves three PCIe 3.0 slots free for additional I/O cards.
