Compact 1U rack server for dense compute

The PowerEdge R630 fits a dual-socket Xeon platform into a single rack unit. Two E5-2637 V3 processors at 3.5 GHz deliver 16 virtual cores for multi-threaded workloads. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots. The system targets environments that need high core density without expanding rack footprint.

Hot-plug drive bays and flexible RAID

Eight 2.5-inch bays accept SAS or SATA drives and support hot-swap replacement. The Perc H730 controller with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the installed 300 GB 15K SAS pair. Three PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot remain open for additional I/O cards. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure.

Sustained throughput with redundant cooling

The 1U chassis uses redundant fans to maintain airflow during continuous load. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band monitoring and remote firmware updates without host OS involvement. Four 1 GbE ports on the daughter card handle baseline network traffic; optional 10 GbE NDCs can be added for higher bandwidth. The platform ships without an operating system, leaving software choice to the integrator.

Questions about this item

How much memory can the R630 actually use with the installed E5-2637 V3 processors?

The installed processors limit total memory to 64 GB across the 24 DIMM slots, even though the platform supports up to 1536 GB with other CPUs.

What is the thermal and acoustic profile when the dual 750 W redundant supplies run continuously?

Dual 750 W hot-swap supplies share the load; fan speed ramps with CPU and drive temperature, so sustained 3.5 GHz operation will keep fans at elevated but server-typical levels.

Which networking daughter card ships with the system?

The unit includes a daughter card with four 1 GbE ports; 10 GbE options are not installed unless specified separately.
