Dual 2.2 GHz Xeon Silver 4210 processors with 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory in a 10-bay 2.5" rack chassis with PERC H740P RAID controller and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management
The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack-mount server built for density and compute throughput. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 CPUs running at 2.2 GHz, each delivering ten cores and 13.75 MB of cache. A total of 128 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed across the available slots. The chassis provides ten 2.5-inch drive bays wired to a PERC H740P RAID controller with SATA connectivity.
This configuration fits environments that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a single rack unit. The dual-processor layout and 128 GB of RAM support dense virtual-machine hosting, in-memory databases and multi-threaded applications. Remote management is handled by iDRAC9 with an Enterprise licence, and a 10 GbE two-port 562T adapter is fitted for high-speed networking. Buyers who require pre-installed storage drives or GPU compute capability should look elsewhere.
The platform supports up to 7.68 TB of DDR4 memory when fully populated, far beyond the 128 GB installed today. This headroom allows future expansion for workloads that grow beyond the current footprint. The PERC H740P controller manages RAID across the ten SATA bays, and dual 750 W power supplies provide redundancy. The server measures 36 by 24 by 10 inches and weighs 40 pounds.

The 10-bay 2.5" chassis gives up to ten drive slots; other R640 chassis variants offer fewer bays, so choose this one only if you need that density.
Each of the two 10-core CPUs runs at a 2.2 GHz base clock with 13.75 MB cache, delivering 20 total cores for parallel tasks such as virtualization or database threads.
The PERC H740P RAID controller manages drives over SATA, so throughput is bound by the SATA link speed rather than a faster protocol.
