1U rack server with dual Xeon Silver 4108

This 1U Dell PowerEdge R640 system arrives new and ready for rack deployment. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4108 processors running at 1.80 GHz deliver 16 total cores for parallel workloads. The chassis uses 2.5-inch drive bays and includes a Dell PERC H740P storage controller.

Suited for virtualization.

Buyers who want more storage bays than the ten 2.5-inch slots provided should look at a different platform. The installed memory is fixed at 64 GB DDR4 and the CPU sockets are already fully populated with the maximum of two processors.

Eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs pre-configured

The server ships with eight solid-state drives, each 1.92 TB, connected through the H740P RAID controller. This capacity supports operating systems, applications, virtual machines and business data without additional drive purchases.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5-inch SFF drive bays accept the 1.92TB SATA SSDs I already own?

The R640 uses 2.5-inch SFF bays and ships with eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs, so any compatible 2.5-inch SATA SSD will fit the same bays.

How can I verify the dual Xeon Silver 4108 processors and 64GB DDR4 are recognised after first boot?

Enter the system BIOS or iDRAC interface; both will display two 8-core Xeon Silver 4108 CPUs at 1.80GHz and 64GB of DDR4 memory.

Does the box include the H740P RAID controller and all eight SSDs, or must I order them separately?

The H740P RAID controller and all eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs are factory-installed inside the 1U chassis; nothing extra is required for the listed configuration.
