The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a dual-socket rack server built for scale-out workloads that demand high core counts in minimal rack space. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors deliver 24 cores at 2.1 GHz with 3.0 GHz turbo, while 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory fills all 24 DIMM slots. The platform suits virtualization clusters, database nodes and HPC front-ends that need maximum density per rack unit.

Enterprise storage and networking foundation

Eight 2.5-inch 2.4 TB 10K SAS drives connect through a PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with battery-backed cache. Hot-swap bays and redundant 750 W platinum power supplies allow drive or PSU replacement without downtime. A quad-port daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links, and iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides full out-of-band management. Rails and bezel are included for immediate rack integration.

Memory capacity fixed at 768 GB

All 24 DDR4 slots are occupied by 32 GB modules, so the system arrives at its installed maximum of 768 GB with no free slots for expansion.
