1U Rack Server with Dual Xeon 6148

The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for virtualization, private cloud and high-performance computing. It ships new with a rail kit and targets small-business or enterprise deployments that need dense, scalable compute in a single rack unit.

256GB DDR4 and 30.72TB Enterprise SSD Storage

Eight 32GB DDR4 modules run at 3200MHz for a total of 256GB memory, while four 7.68TB SATA SSDs deliver 30.72TB of raw capacity. The PERC H730 RAID controller with 2GB NV cache manages the array; memory and drives arrive separately and require installation before use.

Redundant Power, Quad 1GbE

Dual hot-swappable power supplies keep the system running during a module swap. A Broadcom BCM5720 quad-port 1GbE controller handles network traffic, and iDRAC9 Express provides out-of-band management for remote monitoring and control.

Questions about this item

Will the dual Xeon 6148 processors and 256GB DDR4 work with my existing PERC H730 RAID controller?

The system includes a PERC H730 12Gb/s RAID controller with 2GB NV cache, matching the supplied 7.68TB SATA SSDs.

How can I confirm the iDRAC9 Express remote management is active after installing the server?

Connect to the dedicated management port, log in to the iDRAC9 web interface, and verify the system inventory shows both Xeon 6148 CPUs and 256GB memory.

Which components arrive pre-installed versus the drives and memory that need fitting?

The 1U chassis, dual Xeon 6148 CPUs, PERC H730 controller, Broadcom BCM5720 quad 1GbE NIC, redundant power supplies, iDRAC9 Express, and rail kit are installed; the four 7.68TB SSDs and eight 32GB DDR4 modules are packaged separately for installation.
