A 1U rack server with two Xeon Silver 4216 CPUs at 2.1GHz, 64GB DDR4, PERC H740P controller and four 3.5-inch SATA bays
The Dell PowerEdge R640 fits two Intel Xeon Silver 4216 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with sixteen cores and 22MB cache. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the board. The 4LFF chassis accepts up to four 3.5-inch SATA drives, though none are included in this configuration. Integrated graphics handle basic display output while the PERC H740P RAID controller manages storage arrays. Remote administration is provided by iDRAC9 with an Enterprise licence.
Installed memory sits at 64GB, leaving substantial headroom toward the 7.68TB maximum supported by the dual-socket design. The four 3.5-inch bays connect through the PERC H740P controller over SATA, so capacity scales with the drives you add. Compute throughput is fixed by the two 16-core Xeons; workloads that demand more threads or higher single-core frequency will hit that ceiling. The 10GbE 2-port 562T adapter supplies network bandwidth, but storage performance ultimately depends on the drive selection.
Two 750W power supplies deliver redundancy for continuous operation in a rack environment. The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence enables full out-of-band management, virtual console and lifecycle automation without extra cost. A rail kit is available on request, so plan for that if your cabinet requires it. Buyers who need drives, additional memory modules or a different drive-count chassis should specify those changes before ordering.

Yes, the installed 64 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory is validated for the Silver 4216 CPUs, so your current DDR4 ECC modules can be added to the 16 available DIMM slots up to the 7.68 TB maximum.
Log into the iDRAC9 Enterprise interface, open the hardware inventory and run the built-in diagnostics; they report controller firmware version, drive status and link speed for each 10 GbE port.
The chassis includes two Silver 4216 processors, 64 GB DDR4 ECC RAM, PERC H740P controller, dual 750 W power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise and two 10 GbE ports; 3.5″ SATA drives and rail kit are not included.
