Dell PowerEdge R640 40-core rack server

This Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rackmount server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors running at 2.40 GHz. Together they deliver 40 cores for virtualization, databases, file storage, backups and application hosting. The system ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory and eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives managed by an H730P controller.

Check your rack and power before ordering

The server uses an LGA3647 dual-socket platform and occupies a standard 1U rack space with eight 2.5-inch drive bays. Verify that your rack can accept the unit depth and that your power distribution units provide the required connectors for dual redundant supplies. Confirm that your network infrastructure supports the integrated X710 Ethernet adapters and that your operating system licences cover the 40-core configuration.

H730P controller and X710 adapters simplify

The included H730P storage controller handles RAID setup and ongoing array management without extra hardware. Dual-port X710 network adapters provide high-speed connectivity for virtual machine traffic and storage replication. Eight 600 GB SAS drives arrive pre-installed in the front bays, so the array can be configured during the initial BIOS and controller setup performed by the supplier.
