Rackmount server with dual 12‑core Xeon Gold 6146 CPUs, 96GB DDR4, six 1TB SSDs and H740P controller in a 10‑bay 2.5" chassis
The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rackmount server configured with dual Xeon Gold 6146 processors running at 3.20 GHz and 12 cores each. It ships with 96 GB of DDR4 memory and six 1 TB SSDs behind an H740P controller. The system targets file storage, virtualisation, database and application hosting workloads.
Ten 2.5-inch drive bays sit behind a front bezel that gives the chassis a finished rack appearance. Standard front-panel LEDs show power, Ethernet and USB status for quick visual checks. The unit weighs 60 units and arrives tested with BIOS, controllers and storage arrays pre-configured.
The platform supports up to 3 TB of DDR4 when fully populated, letting the same chassis scale far beyond the installed 96 GB. Buyers who need more storage than six drives or who require GPU compute should evaluate other configurations.

Slide each 2.5" drive into a carrier until it clicks, insert the carrier into a bay until the latch locks, then use the H740P controller BIOS or iDRAC to create the virtual disk before the OS sees the array.
The H740P uses a flash-backed write cache; monitor the battery health LED in iDRAC and replace the cache module if the status shows degraded or failed to keep write performance consistent.
The 1U chassis airflow path reaches its cooling ceiling before the CPUs hit their maximum junction temperature, so fan speeds ramp to maximum and CPU clocks may throttle to stay within the thermal envelope.
