Compact 1U dual-socket server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650 packs two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors and 1 TB of DDR4 memory into a single rack unit. It targets virtualization hosts, database nodes and private-cloud clusters that need high core counts in minimal space. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or more than two sockets should look elsewhere.

Verify rack depth, power feeds and network cabling

Confirm the cabinet can accept a 1U chassis with front 2.5" drive access and that two 1400 W platinum supplies match your PDU connectors. The OCP 3.0 dual-port 10 GbE SFP+ adapter requires compatible transceivers and switch ports. Ensure the PERC H755 RAID controller firmware aligns with your management tools before deployment.

Sustained throughput from ten enterprise SATA SSDs

Ten 1.92 TB SATA drives behind the H755 with 8 GB NV cache deliver steady read/write bandwidth for mixed OLTP and analytics workloads. Dual 20-core CPUs at 2.3 GHz base and 3.4 GHz turbo maintain throughput under continuous load, while iDRAC9 Enterprise provides remote health monitoring without interrupting production traffic.
