1U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon Silver 4314 CPUs, 128GB DDR4, ten 960GB SATA SSDs and H755 RAID controller
The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server built for organisations that need high core counts in minimal rack space. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors deliver 32 cores at 2.4 GHz with 3.4 GHz turbo. 128 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory and ten 960 GB SATA SSDs are installed. A PERC H755 controller with 8 GB NV cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise, quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 networking, rails and bezel complete the package.
This configuration suits virtualisation clusters, database nodes and private-cloud hosts that run well on two sockets and SATA flash. Teams that require four-socket scaling, on-board NVMe slots, 10 GbE or faster networking, or GPU compute should evaluate other platforms. The fixed 1U height also limits PCIe expansion to low-profile cards.
The storage controller is the Dell PERC H755, a PCIe RAID adapter equipped with 8 GB of non-volatile cache and a battery backup. It supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the ten 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. This controller choice determines the RAID feature set and cache protection available for the installed drives.

The server occupies 1U of rack height and includes ready rails for mounting. It ships with two 1400 Watt platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies that provide redundant power.
The H755 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 on the installed SATA SSDs. The chassis also accepts 2.5-inch SAS and NVMe drives, so the same controller can manage mixed media when added.
Log into iDRAC9 Enterprise or the BIOS; both will show two 16-core Silver 4314 CPUs at 2.4GHz and eight 16GB DDR4 2666MHz registered ECC DIMMs totalling 128GB.
