A 1U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon Gold 5317 CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, ten 1.8 TB SAS drives on an H755 controller and dual 1400 W power supplies
The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors. Each CPU runs at 3.0 GHz base with a 3.6 GHz turbo across 12 cores. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4-2933 registered ECC memory in a four-DIMM configuration. It targets virtualization, database, and private-cloud workloads that need high core density in minimal rack space.
Redundant hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies keep the server running during a single-unit failure. The H755 RAID controller includes 8 GB of battery-backed NV cache to protect write performance under continuous I/O. Ten 1.8 TB 10 K SAS drives deliver steady sequential throughput for mixed read-write workloads. The 1U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to maintain thermal stability at full utilisation.
The platform supports PCIe Gen4 for faster device bandwidth, though the installed H755 and Broadcom 57412 OCP 3.0 10 GbE card operate within their respective link widths. Memory capacity can scale to 2 TB across 32 DDR4 slots, but only 64 GB is populated today. Storage bays accept 2.5-inch SAS, SATA, or NVMe drives, yet the current backplane houses only SAS devices. Buyers needing more than 10 drives or additional PCIe cards must add external enclosures.

The 1U chassis uses redundant hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies and Dell's thermal design for the 12-core Gold 5317 CPUs; fan speed scales with inlet temperature and workload.
Ready Rails and a front bezel are included; the OCP 3.0 card provides two 10 GbE SFP+ ports, so compatible SFP+ transceivers and fibre or DAC cables are required for network connectivity.
The PERC H755 supports 12 Gb/s SAS and is backward compatible with 6 Gb/s SAS and SATA drives; the 2.5" bays accept both drive types for mixed deployments.
