Dense 1U compute node

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors running at 3.0 GHz with 12 cores each. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory and eight 960 GB SATA SSDs managed by a PERC H745 controller. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise complete the package.

Ideal for virtualisation and cloud density

This configuration suits teams that need high core counts and fast local storage in a single rack unit. Buyers who require more memory channels, additional drive bays or GPU acceleration should look at larger platforms.

PERC H745 RAID controller with 4 GB cache

The installed H745 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, and its battery-backed cache protects writes during power loss. Verify that your workload matches these RAID levels before ordering.

Questions about this item

What PCIe generation does the H745 controller use for the 960GB SATA SSDs and what throughput does that cap?

The H745 connects the eight 960GB SATA SSDs over a 6 Gb/s SATA interface, so each drive is limited to the SATA 6 Gb/s maximum.

What rack depth and rail type are required to mount the 1U chassis with the included hardware?

The server is a 1U rack unit that ships with Ready Rails for tool-less mounting in standard square-hole or round-hole 4-post racks.

In which DIMM slots do the four 16GB DDR4 2933MHz modules go for a dual-processor configuration?

Install the 64GB kit as four 16GB DDR4 2933MHz RDIMMs, one per channel on each CPU, following the socket-specific population sequence in the service manual.
