1U rack server with dual Xeon Silver 4314 CPUs, 128GB DDR4, eight 1.92TB SATA SSDs, H745 RAID, quad-port 1GbE, iDRAC9 Enterprise, dual 1400W PSUs
The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors. Each CPU provides 16 cores at a 2.4 GHz base frequency with a 3.4 GHz turbo. The system ships with 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. It targets virtualization, dense compute and storage-heavy workloads in space-constrained data centres.
Dual hot-swap 1400 W platinum-rated power supplies deliver full redundancy for continuous operation. The 1U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to cool both processors, eight 2.5-inch drive bays and the PERC H745 RAID controller under typical data-centre inlet temperatures. Acoustic output is managed by variable-speed fans that ramp only when thermal sensors demand additional cooling capacity.
Storage consists of eight 1.92 TB SATA 6 Gb/s solid-state drives managed by a Dell PERC H745 controller with 4 GB non-volatile cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Buyers needing NVMe or SAS connectivity, or more than eight drive bays in 1U, should evaluate alternative platforms.

| AI capability | 8 × 1.92 TB SATA SSD |
Slide each 1.92TB SATA SSD into a front bay until the carrier clicks; the step often missed is seating the carrier latch fully so the backplane connector engages.
The H745 uses a battery-backed 4GB NV cache; the battery typically requires replacement after several years of continuous operation.
Thermal limits in the 1U chassis usually appear before power limits when both Silver 4314 processors run at 3.4GHz turbo continuously.
