DELL PowerEdge R650xs 1U rack server 2x Xeon Gold 5317 3.0GHz 12-core 256GB DDR4 10x 1.92TB SSD H745

DELL PowerEdge R650xs 1U rack server

The DELL PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for data centre workloads such as virtualisation and dense analytics. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors, each running at 3.0GHz with 12 cores. The system includes 256GB of DDR4 2933MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32GB modules. Ten 1.92TB SATA SSDs provide high-capacity flash storage in a compact chassis.

PERC H745 RAID controller with SATA SSDs

Storage is managed by a Dell PERC H745 front RAID controller equipped with 4GB NV cache and a battery backup. The controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for flexible data protection. All ten drive bays are populated with 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s enterprise SSDs. The SATA interface limits peak throughput compared to NVMe or SAS alternatives, so the array suits read-heavy or mixed workloads rather than extreme low-latency demands.

Dual 1400W PSUs and 10GbE SFP+ networking

The server includes two hot-swap 1400 Watt platinum power supplies for redundancy. A Broadcom 57412 dual-port 10GbE SFP+ OCP 3.0 card handles network connectivity, so compatible SFP+ transceivers and cabling are required. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides out-of-band remote management. Verify rack depth for the 1U form factor and ensure the LGA 4189 socket platform matches any planned processor upgrades.
