Dual Xeon Gold 5317 compute

The PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors, each running at 3.0 GHz with twelve cores. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory and ten 600 GB 10 K SAS drives managed by a PERC H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache. The system targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and dense analytics workloads in space-constrained data centres.

Thermals power and noise

Dual 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power for continuous operation. The 1U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow to cool the processors, memory and drive bays under typical rack conditions. Fan speeds scale with inlet temperature and workload to balance thermal headroom against acoustic output in the server room.

Build integration

The server occupies a single rack unit and includes ready rails plus a front bezel for quick mounting. An OCP 3.0 quad-port 1 GbE network card handles connectivity while iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote deployment and monitoring. Ten 2.5-inch front bays support SAS, SATA or NVMe drives for flexible storage layouts. GPU acceleration can be added for AI and machine learning tasks.
