The Dell PowerEdge R650xs packs two Intel Xeon Gold 6338 processors into a single rack unit. Each CPU runs at 2.0 GHz with 32 cores and can reach 3.2 GHz turbo for burst workloads. The server targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing where space is at a premium. It arrives new with 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules.

H745 RAID and quad 1 GbE

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives behind a PERC H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache and battery backup. Supported RAID levels include 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A Broadcom 5720 OCP 3.0 card provides four 1 GbE ports for network connectivity. Dual 1400 W platinum hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full remote management. Rails and front bezel are included.

Upgrade from single-socket or older 14G gear

This system replaces single-processor 1U servers that cannot scale beyond 16 cores per socket. The jump is worth it when workloads need 32 cores per CPU and 1 TB maximum memory capacity. Buyers who need NVMe-only storage or GPU acceleration should verify those options separately as they are not included in this configuration.
