A 1U rack server with dual Xeon Silver 4316 20-core processors, 256GB DDR4, H745 RAID controller, and ten 600GB 10K SAS drives
The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for data-center density. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors at 2.3 GHz, each offering 20 cores and a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules and ten 600 GB 10K SAS drives managed by a PERC H745 RAID controller with 4 GB cache. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise provide redundant power and remote management out of the box.
The chassis holds ten 2.5-inch drive bays connected to a SAS 12 Gb/s backplane through the H745 controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Memory capacity tops out at 1 TB across sixteen DDR4 DIMM slots running up to 3200 MT/s, so the current 256 GB configuration leaves room for expansion. Network connectivity comes from a quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 card, limiting aggregate throughput to 4 Gb/s unless additional adapters are installed.
Verify that your rack provides standard 1U spacing and sufficient depth for the included sliding rails, and that your PDU can deliver two independent 1400 W feeds with the correct IEC connectors. Confirm that your hypervisor or operating system supports the Xeon Silver 4316 LGA 4189 platform and the PERC H745 RAID stack. Ensure the SAS drives match your existing storage topology, as they are not interchangeable with SATA or NVMe media without a different backplane.

This unit ships with ten 600GB 10K SAS drives and a PERC H745 controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60; NVMe is not included in this build.
Each Xeon Silver 4316 runs 20 cores at 2.3GHz base and can boost to 3.4GHz, giving 40 total threads for virtualization and dense compute workloads.
The Broadcom 5720 adapter provides four 1GbE ports over OCP 3.0, capping each link at 1Gbps for standard rack connectivity.
