Compact 1U rack server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs fits two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 processors and 256 GB of DDR4 memory into a single rack unit, targeting workloads that demand high core counts in minimal space such as virtualization clusters or cloud nodes.

Sustained throughput with ten SAS drives

Ten 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives fed by the H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache maintain steady I/O across RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 without the thermal throttling seen in smaller arrays during long rebuilds or analytics scans.

Redundant power and tool-less rails

Dual 1400 W platinum hot-swap supplies keep the system running through a single unit failure while the included sliding rails let one person install or remove the chassis without extra brackets or cage nuts.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 2x 1400W PSU setup run under full load all day?

The server uses redundant hot-swap 1400W platinum-efficiency power supplies in a 1U chassis; actual acoustic and thermal output depend on workload and rack airflow.

What else must I already own for the PERC H745 and 10x 1.8TB SAS drives to work?

The RAID controller and ten 2.5-inch SAS drives are installed; the server includes ready rails and bezel for rack mounting.

Will the OCP 3.0 5720 quad-port 1GbE card work with my older 1GbE switches and cabling?

The Broadcom 5720 presents four standard 1GbE RJ45 ports via an OCP 3.0 module, compatible with existing 1GbE infrastructure.
