2U rack server with dual 16-core Xeon processors at 2.1 GHz, 512 GB DDR4 memory, H730 RAID controller, and two 800 GB SATA SSDs
This DELL PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz, each providing 16 cores for a total of 32 cores. It comes with 512 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory installed across 16 modules. The system includes a PERC H730 storage controller with 1 GB cache and two 800 GB SATA SSDs in an eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis.
This server suits teams running virtual desktop infrastructure, data warehousing or high-performance computing tasks that benefit from 32 total cores and large memory capacity. The quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for flexible fabric integration. Buyers who require SAS-only drive configurations should evaluate alternatives.
The eight 2.5-inch drive bays accept SATA SSDs or HDDs and connect through the H730 controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Two hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant power. Memory can be expanded to 1.5 TB using the remaining eight DIMM slots.
