2U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, two 900 GB 10K SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 2 x 900GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built for businesses that need dual-socket compute density in a standard cabinet. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors at 1.9GHz and 64GB of DDR4 memory. The system supports up to 1536GB total across 24 DIMM slots. It is suited for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or general-purpose workloads that fit within the installed memory ceiling.
The chassis uses tool-less rails and hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays so drives and power supplies can be swapped without shutdown. Memory population follows a strict per-processor sequence; mixing DIMM ranks incorrectly will halt POST. The PERC H730 controller requires its dedicated slot, leaving up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots for additional cards. Cable routing for the DVD drive and front-panel USB can be tight in deep racks.
Two 900GB 10K SAS drives are installed behind the H730 RAID controller with 1GB cache. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across a maximum of eight bays. Raw capacity scales to 64TB when all bays are populated with large-capacity SAS or SATA drives. Buyers who need more storage than two drives provide must add drives and configure the desired RAID level before deployment.

Enter the H730 BIOS during POST, verify both 900 GB SAS drives appear, then check the iDRAC8 lifecycle controller dashboard for drive health and RAID status.
The box includes the 2U chassis, dual E5-2609 v3 CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, two 900 GB 10K SAS drives in hot-plug trays, H730 RAID controller, two 750 W redundant PSUs, DVD drive, iDRAC8 Express and 4 x 1 GbE daughter card. You must add an operating system and rails.
Use 64 GB DDR4 modules; 24 slots × 64 GB reaches the 1 536 GB maximum supported by the C610 chipset and the installed E5-2609 v3 processors.
