2U rack server with dual 1.9 GHz Xeon CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives and an H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 2 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and includes two 300 GB 15K SAS drives on a PERC H330 RAID controller. Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy.
This server fits organisations that need a dense, dual-socket platform for virtualisation, database or file workloads with room to expand storage in the eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays. It is not for buyers who need more than 64 GB of installed memory without adding modules, or who require more than two 300 GB drives out of the box.
The PERC H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS and SATA drives, so the choice of RAID level and drive count determines usable capacity and redundancy.
Measured against everything we stock in Rack & Tower Servers, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with two E5-2609v3 processors, 64GB DDR4, two 300GB 15K SAS drives in trays, H330 RAID controller, dual 750W redundant power supplies, DVD drive, iDRAC8 Express and a 4-port 1GbE daughter card. Operating system, additional drives, memory, PCIe cards and iDRAC Enterprise upgrades are not included.
The system has 24 DIMM slots (12 per CPU) and currently holds 64GB DDR4. You can add 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB DDR4 modules up to 2400MT/s; maximum supported capacity is 1536GB, though actual speed depends on the installed processors.
Two Xeon E5-2609v3 chips provide 12 total cores at 1.9GHz with no Turbo Boost. This suits multi-threaded tasks such as virtualization hosts, database servers or batch processing where core count matters more than single-thread frequency.
