2U rack server with dual 14-core Xeon processors at 2.4 GHz, 64 GB DDR4 ECC memory, ten 600 GB SAS drives on an H730 RAID controller, quad-port 1 GbE and 10 GbE networking.
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 8 x 600GB 10K SAS
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server system built for midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce, VDI, databases or high-performance computing workloads. It ships new with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors, each delivering 14 cores at 2.4 GHz with 3.3 GHz turbo, providing 28 cores in total. The platform targets IT teams that need dense, redundant compute in a standard rack footprint.
The system includes 64 GB of registered ECC DDR4-2400 memory configured as four 16 GB modules, leaving 20 of the 24 DIMM sockets free for expansion up to the 1.5 TB maximum supported by the Intel C610 chipset. This memory capacity and headroom determine whether the server can hold the working set for virtualisation hosts, in-memory databases or large VDI deployments without immediate upgrades.
A PERC H730 1 GB SAS/SATA RAID controller with battery backs RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through for the ten installed 600 GB 10K SAS drives. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network topology. iDRAC8 Enterprise provides full out-of-band remote management, while ready rails and a front bezel simplify rack installation.

Other versions of this model
Two 14-core Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors give 28 cores at 2.4 GHz base with 3.3 GHz turbo, so heavily threaded workloads such as virtualization hosts or database nodes can sustain high aggregate frequency across all cores.
The PERC H730 1 GB controller runs at 12 Gb/s SAS, which caps each of the ten 600 GB 10 K drives at that interface speed; RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 is supported with the onboard battery-backed cache.
Ready Rails sliding rails and a front bezel are supplied, allowing tool-less installation in a standard 2U rack space with the dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies accessible from the rear.
