A 2U rack server with dual 22-core Xeon processors at 2.2 GHz, 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H730 RAID controller and eight 800 GB SATA SSDs for high-density enterprise workloads
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rackmount server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2GHz with a 3.6GHz turbo. Each CPU provides 22 cores, delivering 44 cores total for heavily threaded workloads. The system includes 128GB of DDR4 2400MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16GB modules, with 24 slots available for expansion up to 1.5TB.
This configuration suits organisations running virtual desktop infrastructure, database clusters, or high-performance computing tasks that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. The eight 800GB SATA SSDs on a PERC H730 RAID controller support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Buyers who need more than two processor sockets or require memory types other than DDR4 should consider a different platform.
The chassis provides eight hot-swap 2.5-inch drive bays populated with 800GB SATA solid-state drives connected to the H730 controller. Dual 750W platinum power supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise remote management are included, along with a quad-port network daughter card offering two 1GbE and two 10Gb SFP+ connections. Rails and a front bezel are supplied for immediate rack installation.

Other versions of this model
The chassis occupies 2U of vertical space and ships with ready rails; you provide a standard rack cabinet.
Yes, the H730 supports SATA 6 Gb/s and SAS 12 Gb/s, so older SATA SSDs can be added to the same backplane.
Open the iDRAC8 Enterprise interface or enter the system BIOS; both will show two 22-core CPUs at 2.2 GHz and 128 GB registered ECC memory.
