2U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 CPUs, 64GB DDR4, three 300GB SAS drives and an H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 3 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack system built for dense local storage. Dual Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors at 1.9 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory provide a balanced platform for database, virtualization or backup workloads. Three 300 GB 15K SAS drives and a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache deliver hardware RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 out of the box. Redundant 750 W hot-swap power supplies and 24 front-accessible 2.5-inch bays complete the package.
This configuration suits teams that prioritize drive count and RAID flexibility over raw compute density. The two-socket limit and 64 GB installed ceiling (max 1 536 GB across 24 DIMM slots) mean heavy in-memory analytics or heavy virtualization stacks will need a different chassis. It is not for buyers who want GPU acceleration, more than two processor sockets, or 10 GbE networking without adding an optional daughter card.
The defining spec is the 24-bay hot-plug backplane that accepts both SAS and SATA drives up to a combined 52 TB raw capacity. This density in a 2U form factor determines whether the server fits a storage-first deployment or a compute-first one.
