2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core CPU at 1.9 GHz, 8 GB DDR4, three 1.2 TB SAS drives on a PERC H730 RAID controller, and dual 750 W redundant power supplies
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 3 x 1.2TB
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack server that fits up to 24 x 2.5-inch hot-plug drives in a compact chassis. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz, 8GB of DDR4 memory, and three 1.2TB 7.2K SAS drives behind a Perc H730 RAID controller. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the baseline configuration.
This server suits teams that need high drive-count capacity for local storage workloads such as backup repositories, software-defined storage nodes, or archive tiers. It is not for buyers who require high single-thread performance, large memory footprints out of the box, or more than one processor installed. The single CPU and 8GB starting point limit virtualization density unless additional modules and a second processor are added.
The defining spec is the 24-bay 2.5-inch SAS/SATA backplane paired with the H730 controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. That combination determines whether the chassis can deliver the raw capacity and redundancy scheme your storage layout demands.

Other versions of this model
The three 1.2TB SAS drives are supplied with their 2.5'' hot-plug trays included. The chassis accepts up to 24 trays, so additional trays are only needed if you add more drives later.
The board supports two CPUs; the installed E5-2609v3 provides six cores at 1.9GHz. Adding a second identical processor doubles core count and enables the second set of 12 DIMM slots for memory expansion beyond the current 8GB.
The H730 controller runs at 12Gbps SAS, but the fitted 7.2K drives are 6Gbps devices. Sequential throughput will be limited by the drive spindle speed, while the controller cache and RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 support improve random I/O and data protection.
