2U Dual-Socket Rack Server

This 2U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 24 cores and a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. It is built for organisations that need dense, multi-threaded compute in a standard rack footprint. The system includes 512 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 modules, leaving eight DIMM slots free for expansion up to 3 TB.

Suited for virtualisation and database workloads

The dual-socket design and high core count make it well suited for virtualisation clusters, in-memory databases and high-throughput transactional workloads. Buyers who require single-thread performance above the 2.1 GHz base frequency, need more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays, or must operate without redundant hot-swap power supplies should evaluate alternative server models.

PERC H730P RAID controller with 2 GB cache

The installed Dell PERC H730P controller provides 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity with 2 GB of battery-backed cache, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. This single component determines the storage topology, drive redundancy options and sustained write performance for the eight included 600 GB 10K SAS drives.

Questions about this item

Will my existing DDR4 2666MHz Registered ECC modules work alongside the 16x 32GB sticks already installed?

The server has 24 DDR4 slots total with 16 currently occupied by 32GB modules at 2666MHz. You can add up to 8 more identical Registered ECC sticks to reach the 3TB maximum.

How can I verify the PERC H730P controller sees all eight 600GB 10K SAS drives after first boot?

During POST press Ctrl+R to enter the H730P BIOS utility. All eight 600GB 10K SAS drives should appear under Physical Disks with 12Gb/s link speed and show Ready status.

Does the shipment include SFP+ transceivers for the X520 10GbE ports or must I supply them?

The box contains the server with bezel and Ready Rails, two 750W PSUs, and the installed components listed. SFP+ transceivers for the 10GbE ports are not included and must be purchased separately.
