Dell PowerEdge R740 2U Server

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack-mount server system built for virtualization, dense storage and high-performance computing. It ships new with a rail kit, dual redundant power supplies and Windows Server 2022 Standard licensed for 16 cores. Dual Xeon Gold 6148 processors and 256GB of DDR4 memory provide the compute base for demanding workloads.

Suits virtualization hosts and storage clusters

This configuration fits teams running virtualized environments, software-defined storage or traditional enterprise applications that need hot-swap power redundancy and quad-port 1GbE networking. Buyers who require GPU acceleration or single-threaded frequency beyond 3.70 GHz should look elsewhere. The PERC H730 RAID controller with 2GB cache manages the included enterprise SSDs.

7.68TB enterprise SSD array

Four 1.92TB 2.5-inch enterprise solid-state drives deliver 7.68TB of raw capacity behind the PERC H730 12Gb/s RAID controller. Drives and memory upgrades arrive separately and require installation before deployment. iDRAC9 Express provides remote management for lights-out administration.
