A 2U rack server with dual 12-core Gold 6126 CPUs, 512GB DDR4, four 300GB 10K SAS drives and an H730P RAID controller
The Dell PowerEdge R740 arrives with two Intel Gold 6126 processors, each offering 12 cores at 2.6GHz, and 512GB of DDR4 memory already installed across 16 DIMM slots. Four 300GB 10K SAS drives sit behind an H730P RAID controller, while dual 1100W redundant power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included. Bezel, rails and power cords complete the package so the system can be racked and powered immediately.
The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch drive bays, but only four are populated, leaving room for expansion if your workload demands more local storage. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots are available for additional network, GPU or storage cards, so confirm the number and profile of add-in cards you plan to install. Network connectivity uses an Intel X550 module delivering two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports; ensure your switch ports and cabling match these interfaces.
Redundant 1100W power supplies remove the need to source matching units separately, and the pre-installed H730P controller handles RAID levels without an extra purchase. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full out-of-band management, firmware updates and virtual console access from day one. Factory-installed rails and bezel mean the server can be mounted in a standard rack without ordering sliding rails or front panels as separate line items.

The server includes rails, a bezel without LCD, and power cords in the box; no extra parts are needed for basic rack installation.
Two Gold 6126 processors give 24 total cores at 2.6GHz with 19.25M cache each, suited for heavily threaded workloads and the 512GB DDR4 capacity installed.
The H730P manages the four 300GB 10K SAS drives in hardware RAID, delivering consistent low-latency IOPS for database or virtualisation workloads.
