2U rack server with dual 10-core CPUs

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Silver 4210R processors running at 2.4 GHz. Each CPU provides 10 cores and 13.75 MB cache. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory in four 16 GB modules at 2666 MT/s.

Suited for dense virtualisation

This configuration fits environments that need high core count and large flash capacity in a 2U form factor. Buyers who require more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays or who need PCIe Gen 4 slots should look at a different platform.

Four 7.68 TB SAS SSDs on an H730P controller

Storage is provided by four 7.68 TB SAS SSDs managed by the H730P RAID controller. The chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch drives, leaving four bays free for future expansion.
