PowerEdge R740xd 12-bay storage server

The PowerEdge R740xd is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors and 768GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory provide the compute base. Twelve 3.5-inch drive bays and a PERC H730P controller support large-capacity SATA arrays. The platform targets software-defined storage, service-provider hosting and virtual desktop infrastructure deployments.

Sustained compute and storage throughput

Dual 8-core Xeon Gold 6134 CPUs run at 3.2GHz with a 3.7GHz turbo frequency for extended heavy loads. Twenty-four DDR4 slots populated with 32GB modules deliver 768GB at 2666MHz for memory-intensive applications. The H730P controller manages twelve 6TB enterprise SATA drives at 7.2K RPM across RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Quad-port networking with two 10Gb SFP+ and two 1GbE links maintains consistent data flow.

Redundant power and remote management

Dual 750W platinum-efficiency hot-swap supplies provide redundant power for continuous operation. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables out-of-band monitoring and control without host OS dependence. Ready rails and front bezel are included for standard rack installation. The 2U chassis fits typical rack environments while housing maximum internal storage.
