High-capacity 2U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rack server built for data-intensive workloads that demand high storage density. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6254 processors deliver 36 total cores at 3.1 GHz with a 4.0 GHz turbo frequency for enterprise computing performance.

Fits 26 front-access 3.5-inch drive trays

The chassis accepts 26 hot-swap 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives managed by a Dell PERC H330 controller with 12 Gb/s bandwidth. Sixteen DDR4 slots support up to 1 TB of ECC registered memory, while an OCP 2.0 mezzanine card adds dual-port 10/25 Gb SFP28 connectivity alongside the integrated dual-port 1 GbE LOM.

Dual 1100 W platinum power supplies

Redundant hot-swap 1100 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load and maintain uptime if one unit fails. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides remote monitoring and management without requiring physical access to the rack.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum memory capacity the 16 DDR4 slots can reach?

The 16 DDR4 slots support up to 1 TB of registered ECC memory.

How loud or hot does the server get with both 1100 W platinum supplies running continuously?

Dual 1100 W platinum supplies share the load efficiently, keeping fan speeds moderate under sustained operation.

Which network cables or transceivers do I need for the OCP 2.0 mezzanine card?

The Broadcom 57414 mezzanine provides two SFP28 ports for 10/25 GbE, so you need compatible SFP28 modules and fibre or DAC cables.
