Dell PowerEdge R750 12-Bay 2U Server

This 2U rack server ships with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4316 20-core processors running at 2.3 GHz with 3.4 GHz turbo. It includes 64 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across four 16 GB modules. Twelve 3.5-inch 4 TB 7.2K SATA hard drives provide high-capacity storage managed by a PERC H755 controller with 8 GB NV cache.

Suited for dense virtualisation

The configuration targets organisations that need large raw capacity and dual-socket compute in a 2U form factor. Buyers who require NVMe performance or GPU-accelerated compute should evaluate other platforms.

PERC H755 RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache

The H755 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with battery-backed cache for data protection. This specification determines whether the storage topology matches your redundancy and performance requirements.

Questions about this item

What SATA speed does the H755 controller support for the 12 installed 4TB drives?

The H755 controller connects to the 12x 4TB SATA 6Gb/s 3.5" drives, so the interface caps at 6 Gb/s per drive in practice.

What rack space and rails are required to mount this 2U server?

This server occupies 2U of rack height and ships with Ready Rails included for standard square-hole or threaded-hole racks.

How are the two Xeon Silver 4316 processors installed, and what mistake should be avoided?

Both CPUs go into LGA 4189 sockets; the common error is seating only one processor when the board requires both for full memory-channel operation.
