Dell PowerEdge R750 2U 24-Bay Server

The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with 28 cores. It includes 1 TB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across 32 DIMM slots and a Dell PERC H755 RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache. Twenty-four 1.92 TB SATA SSDs provide high-capacity flash storage.

Suits dense virtualisation and database clusters.

This configuration suits organisations consolidating virtual machines, running large databases, or deploying memory-intensive analytics where core count and fast local storage matter. The dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 9 Enterprise simplify remote lifecycle management. Buyers who need GPU acceleration, NVMe-only storage tiers, or single-thread optimisation should evaluate alternative platforms.

24 SATA SSDs behind a single PERC H755 controller

The storage subsystem centres on 24 SATA 6 Gb/s solid-state drives managed by one PERC H755 card supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. This layout determines usable capacity, redundancy options and rebuild times, making it the decisive factor when matching the server to a specific workload.

Questions about this item

What rack height and rail kit does this 2U server require?

The server occupies 2U of rack height and ships with Ready Rails for sliding installation.

What is the correct order for installing the two Xeon Gold 6330 processors and the 32 DDR4 DIMMs?

Populate both LGA 4189 sockets with the 28-core CPUs first, then fill all 32 DDR4 slots with the registered ECC modules.

Which components are hot-swappable and will need replacement over time?

The 24 SATA SSDs, the two 1400 W power supplies and the system fans are all hot-swappable for later replacement.
