A 2U rack server with dual 28-core Xeon Gold 6330 processors, 64GB DDR4 memory, twelve 4TB SATA hard drives and an HBA355i controller for high-capacity enterprise workloads
The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 processors, each running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.1 GHz turbo frequency and 28 cores. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across four 16 GB modules. The HBA355i controller provides SAS 12 Gb/s pass-through connectivity for twelve 3.5-inch 4 TB 7.2K SATA drives. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included.
Replacing a single-processor server or a previous-generation 2U system adds a second 28-core CPU and doubles the memory channel count, which benefits heavily threaded workloads such as virtualization hosts, database engines and analytics clusters. The jump is worth it when core count and memory bandwidth are the primary bottlenecks and the existing chassis, rails and power infrastructure can accommodate the 2U form factor.
This configuration suits buyers who need high core density and large raw capacity in a single 2U node, such as hyper-converged clusters or backup targets. It does not suit buyers who want hardware RAID acceleration, NVMe performance tiers, GPU compute density or a smaller 1U footprint, because the HBA355i is pass-through only, all twelve bays are populated with 7.2K SATA drives and the chassis does not support full-length accelerators.

Ready Rails are included with the server for direct rack installation.
The drives use SATA 6 Gb/s cables to the PCIe HBA355i host bus adapter; the adapter provides pass-through only with no RAID cache or battery.
The twelve 3.5-inch drive bays, the two 1400 W power supplies and the cooling fans are all hot-swappable.
