Dell PowerEdge R750 24-bay rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server populated with twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays. It ships with two Silver 4309Y eight-core processors running at 2.8GHz and 256GB of system memory. Twelve 960GB NVMe SSDs provide high-speed local storage. Integrated iDRAC9 Express handles remote management.

Suited for virtualization hosts needing dense NVMe

This configuration fits workloads that benefit from many parallel NVMe drives and dual-socket compute in a 2U form factor. Buyers who require larger memory footprints or GPU-accelerated compute should evaluate other platforms. Environments limited to 1U height or fewer drive slots will not accommodate this chassis.

Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays define capacity

The chassis accepts up to twenty-four 2.5-inch devices, and this unit populates twelve of those bays with 960GB NVMe SSDs. Expansion room remains for additional flash or hard drives. Verify that your rack depth and power budget match the R750 specifications before ordering.

Questions about this item

What do I need to already have to install the twelve 960GB NVMe drives?

The chassis ships with 24 front 2.5-inch bays, so the twelve drives occupy half the slots and the remaining bays stay empty until you add more drives.

How do the two Silver 4309Y 2.8GHz eight-core processors work with the 256GB memory already installed?

Both CPUs share the single 256GB pool; the server treats it as one contiguous block across the two sockets.

How can I confirm iDRAC9 Express is active after the first boot?

Open a browser to the iDRAC IP shown on the LCD panel; the Express licence screen loads without entering a separate key.
