Two-socket 2U rack server with sixteen 2.5-inch bays, dual Xeon Gold 5418Y 24-core CPUs, 64 GB DDR5-4800 ECC and PERC H965i RAID controller
The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 5418Y processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.8 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 24 cores for a total of 48 threads. The system includes 64 GB of DDR5 memory installed across four slots and a PERC H965i RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache.
This server fits organisations running VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox clusters that need dense compute and sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays for SAS, SATA or NVMe drives. Buyers who require GPU acceleration for AI training or who need more than two processor sockets should evaluate alternative platforms.
The chassis provides sixteen front-accessible 2.5-inch bays with hot-swap capability. The PERC H965i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 and adds NVMe support. This bay count and controller combination determines whether the storage layout matches your workload.

The system ships with two Xeon Gold 5418Y processors, 64GB DDR5-4800 ECC RDIMM, H965i controller with 8GB NV cache, four 2.5-inch drive trays, quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 card, iDRAC9 Datacenter, two 1400W platinum PSUs, rails and bezel. No drives are installed; additional trays and SAS, SATA or NVMe drives are sold separately.
This unit is the 16-bay 2.5-inch configuration with the H965i front RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and NVMe. Other bay counts or controller models are different SKUs; select the 16-bay H965i SKU when you need maximum SFF density and hardware RAID with NVMe support.
Each of the 24-core Gold 5418Y CPUs can boost from 2.0GHz base to 3.8GHz turbo when thermal headroom allows, giving higher single-thread speed for database indexes, VM orchestration or AI preprocessing while the 48 total cores handle parallel throughput.
