A 2U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4410T CPUs at 2.7GHz, 768GB DDR5, a PERC H965i controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60, and sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays
The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4410T processors running at 2.7 GHz with 4.0 GHz turbo. It includes 768 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory across 24 modules. The system uses a PERC H965i RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache and provides 16 front-accessible 2.5-inch drive bays with eight trays installed.
This server suits organisations running VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Microsoft SQL Server, or software-defined storage on premises. The dual 10-core CPUs and large DDR5 capacity handle heavy virtualisation and database tasks. Buyers who need GPU acceleration for large-scale AI training or high-performance computing should look at platforms with PCIe Gen5 slots populated by accelerators.
The chassis provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays supporting SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives, but only eight trays are included. The PERC H965i controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 across these bays. If your deployment requires more than sixteen drives or 3.5-inch form-factor storage, this 2U form factor cannot accommodate it.

The 16-bay 2.5" chassis gives you the full complement of hot-swap slots for SAS, SATA, SSD or NVMe drives, while smaller bay counts reduce the total drive density you can install in the same 2U space.
Each of the two 10-core processors runs at 2.7 GHz base and can boost to 4.0 GHz, so heavily threaded tasks such as virtualization or database work see sustained multi-core throughput with short bursts at the higher turbo frequency.
The H965i RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache connects to the Gen5 backplane, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 for NVMe drives, so the practical limit is the controller's 16 Gbit/s SAS lanes and the 8 GB cache rather than the slot bandwidth.
