A 4U rack server with four 24-core Xeon processors, 768 GB DDR4 memory, 24 SATA SSDs and a PERC H730P controller for high-density enterprise workloads
The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server built for large-scale enterprise workloads. Four Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.4 GHz turbo provide 96 total cores and 768 GB of DDR4 memory. The PERC H730P controller manages 24 installed 960 GB SATA SSDs across RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.
Confirm the cabinet can accept a 4U chassis and that rails are compatible with the supplied Ready Rails kit. Four 1100 W 80+ Platinum power supplies require matching PDU connectors and adequate circuit capacity. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, so plan SFP+ transceivers and cabling accordingly.
Four hot-plug 1100 W power supplies operate in redundant mode, sharing load across all units. System fans adjust speed based on inlet temperature and component utilisation, drawing cool air from the front bezel through the 24 drive bays and CPU zones. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides continuous thermal monitoring and alerting without host OS involvement.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with four Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors, 768GB DDR4 memory in 48 modules, 24 installed 960GB SATA SSDs, a PERC H730P controller with battery, X520/I350 quad-port network card, iDRAC8 Enterprise, four 1100W power supplies, rails and bezel. No extra components are required for operation.
This unit already contains 768GB across 48 slots using 16GB DDR4 modules. The board supports up to 12TB total across 96 slots, so additional 16GB or larger DDR4 DIMMs can be added later if workloads demand more memory.
Each of the four 24-core Xeon E7-8890 v4 CPUs runs at 2.2GHz base with 3.4GHz turbo, giving 96 total cores for highly parallel workloads such as in-memory databases, virtualization and analytics where core count and memory bandwidth matter more than single-thread speed.
