A 4U rack server with four 16-core Xeon E7-8867 v4 processors, 3TB DDR4 memory, H730P RAID controller, four 600GB SAS drives, quad-port networking and iDRAC8 Enterprise management
The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server equipped with four Intel Xeon E7-8867 v4 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with 16 cores. It ships with 3 TB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 96 populated slots, leaving room to scale toward the 12 TB maximum. The platform targets organisations running large in-memory databases, heavy virtualisation clusters or ERP suites that demand maximum core count and memory capacity in a single chassis.
Four 1100 W 80+ Platinum power supplies provide redundant delivery for the fully populated CPU and memory configuration. The 4U form factor allows ample airflow through the chassis to cool the processors, memory risers and storage subsystem under sustained load. Integrated iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote monitoring of thermal sensors and power draw without requiring the host operating system to be running.
The server occupies a standard 4U rack space and includes ready rails and a front bezel for immediate installation. The PERC H730P controller manages the four installed 600 GB 10K SAS drives and supports additional 2.5-inch SAS or SATA devices up to the chassis limit. A quad-port network daughter card supplies two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for flexible fabric attachment.

Other versions of this model
Populate all 96 slots following the per-processor channel sequence in the service manual; the step most often missed is enabling the memory mapping mode in the BIOS before the first boot so the full 3 TB is recognised.
The controller uses a 2 GB battery-backed cache; plan to replace that battery module every 3 to 5 years to keep write-back caching active and avoid data-loss risk during power loss.
The four 1100 W platinum power supplies set the first hard ceiling; total draw cannot exceed their combined rating before thermal or memory bandwidth constraints become binding.
