A 4U rack server with four 16-core Xeon processors at 2.4 GHz, 768 GB DDR4 memory, and 24 hot-plug 1.8 TB SAS drives
The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server fitted with four Intel Xeon E7-8867 v4 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with 16 cores. It targets organisations that run large-scale databases, virtualisation clusters or analytics workloads requiring high core counts and memory capacity in a single chassis.
The system ships with 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 48 slots, leaving 48 additional slots to reach the 12 TB maximum. Twenty-four 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives provide raw capacity through the PERC H330 controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 for redundancy or performance.
The H330 controller operates at 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA speeds, while the Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. The 4U chassis fills its 24 front drive bays with the installed drives, so further internal storage would require external enclosures. iDRAC 8 Enterprise handles remote management independently of the operating system.
