DELL PowerEdge R940 3U rack server 4× Xeon Gold 6130 2.1GHz 16-core 256GB DDR4 8× 400GB SSD H730P

Mission-Critical 3U Server

The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a four-socket rack server built for demanding enterprise workloads. Four Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors deliver 64 total cores at 2.10 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. 256 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory and eight 400 GB SATA SSDs provide a balanced compute and storage foundation in a 3U chassis.

Virtualization and Database Focus

This configuration suits organizations running dense virtualization, in-memory databases or analytics that benefit from high core counts and large memory capacity. Redundant 1600 W platinum power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise and quad-port 1GbE and 10Gb SFP+ networking support continuous operation. Buyers who need more than 48 DIMM slots or a different drive interface should evaluate other models.

Four-Socket Scaling Limit

The system reaches its maximum processor count with the four installed Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs, so no further socket expansion is possible. Memory can scale to 6 TB across the 48 available slots. The PERC H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes for flexible storage arrangement.
