Dual Xeon E5-2650 v4 5U Server

This Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 16-bay 5U server system built for data-centre workloads. Two 12-core Intel Xeon E5-2650 v4 processors run at 2.2 GHz with a 2.9 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four modules. Four 960 GB SATA SSDs and a PERC HBA330 storage controller are included.

Suited for dense storage arrays; not for GPU compute

The 16 x 2.5-inch drive bays and dual 750 W platinum power supplies support storage-heavy applications such as backup repositories or software-defined storage nodes. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 8 Express provide remote management. Buyers needing GPU acceleration or front bezel and ready rails should look elsewhere as those items are not included.

PERC HBA330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA controller

The onboard Dell PERC HBA330 handles 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity for the installed SSDs and any additional drives. This controller determines which drive types can be added to the 16 available bays. Verify that your intended drives use SAS or SATA interfaces compatible with the HBA330 before purchase.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.2 GHz base clock mean when the server is running a full load?

Each Xeon E5-2650 v4 runs at 2.2 GHz base and can boost to 2.9 GHz across its 12 cores, so the dual-socket system delivers 24 cores at sustained speed under heavy workloads.

How does the HBA330 controller limit the connected 960 GB SSDs?

The PERC HBA330 provides 12 Gb/s SAS and 6 Gb/s SATA links; the four 960 GB SATA SSDs will therefore operate at the SATA 6 Gb/s ceiling.

Will the 16-bay 2.5 inch chassis accept the four 960 GB drives without extra brackets?

Yes, the 5U tower holds up to 16 hot-plug 2.5 inch drives and the four 960 GB SSDs slide directly into the front bays.
