A 5U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon E5-2650 v4 processors at 2.2 GHz, 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory, a PERC H730P RAID controller with 2 GB cache, and sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays
The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 2.9 GHz turbo. Twelve cores per socket deliver 24 threads for multi-threaded workloads. It targets businesses running virtualisation hosts, database engines or file services that need strong per-core performance and ECC memory integrity.
Moving from a single-socket E5-2600 v3 system to this dual-socket v4 configuration doubles the core count and raises the maximum turbo frequency. The jump is worth it when consolidation ratios climb past what one processor can schedule or when licensing costs favour fewer, denser hosts. The board accepts no more than two CPUs, so this is the top processor configuration for the chassis.
Eight 16 GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered modules populate half of the twelve DIMM slots, leaving room to triple capacity. The PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages up to sixteen 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60. Storage headroom ends when all sixteen bays are filled or the controller’s cache is saturated by sustained random writes.

The server occupies 5U of rack height and needs an optional rack conversion kit; ready rails are not included.
Use the eight included trays to mount drives, then insert them into the hot-swap bays; the PERC H730P controller must be configured for RAID before the OS sees the volumes.
iDRAC 8 Express is included for the life of the system; the H730P battery is a replaceable module that typically lasts several years and can be swapped without downtime.
