Dual 14-core Xeon server for virtualization

This new Dell PowerEdge T430 5U tower server ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 processors running at 2.6 GHz with 3.5 GHz turbo. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory occupy four of the twelve available slots. The system supports up to 384 GB total capacity for larger workloads.

PERC H730P controller with eight 2.5-inch trays

The included Dell PERC H730P 2 GB SAS/SATA controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Eight hot-swap 2.5-inch drive trays are installed in the 16-bay chassis, leaving room to add more storage later. No drives are included with this unit.

Rack-ready tower with redundant power

Two 750-watt platinum hot-plug power supplies provide redundancy in a 5U form factor that can be converted to rack mount with an optional kit. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 8 Express handle remote management. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.6GHz Xeon speed mean when the server is under load?

The two Xeon E5-2690 v4 processors run at a base 2.6GHz and can boost to 3.5GHz depending on thermal headroom and active core count.

What RAID levels does the H730P controller support over its 12Gb/s SAS interface?

The PERC H730P handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through, with its 2GB cache backed by the included battery.

How many 2.5-inch drives can actually be mounted in the chassis right now?

Eight trays are included; the chassis has sixteen bays total so eight more trays would be needed to fill it.
