Server for workgroup workloads

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U rack server built for office environments. It runs two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v4 processors at 2.2 GHz with 2.9 GHz turbo and 12 cores each. The system includes 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory and eight 8 TB SATA hard drives.

Suits small offices and remote sites

This configuration fits workgroup collaboration, mail, file and print serving, and web serving. Buyers who need more storage bays, higher memory capacity than 384 GB, or a different drive interface should evaluate other platforms.

Storage controller decides RAID options

The PERC H730 1 GB controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes. This single specification determines which data-protection and performance schemes are available for the installed SATA drives.

Questions about this item

How often will the eight 8TB 7.2K SATA hard drives need replacement under continuous operation?

Enterprise 7.2K SATA drives are rated for 24/7 workloads; plan on a typical five-year refresh cycle and monitor SMART alerts via the PERC H730 controller.

Which component hits its limit first when both Xeon E5-2650 v4 CPUs run at 2.9GHz turbo for hours?

The 750W platinum power supplies set the thermal ceiling; sustained dual-CPU turbo draws near their rated output, so airflow and inlet temperature become the limiting factor.

What noise and heat levels should I expect from the dual 750W PSUs and fans during all-day operation?

Redundant hot-swap PSUs and temperature-controlled fans keep acoustics at office-friendly levels; exhaust air stays warm but within standard rack thermal guidelines.
