5U rack server with dual 14-core Xeon E5-2690 v4 CPUs at 2.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, H730P RAID controller, eight 2.5-inch drive trays and dual 750 W PSUs
The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a 5U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 processors. Each CPU delivers 14 cores running at 2.6 GHz with a 3.5 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across twelve DIMM slots, supporting up to 384 GB total. It targets virtualization, database hosting, and business-critical workloads that demand dual-socket compute density.
Two hot-swap 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide full redundancy for continuous operation. The H730P storage controller with 2 GB cache manages up to sixteen 2.5-inch drive bays, though only eight trays are included. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 8 Express remote management handle network and out-of-band administration without additional cards.
The 5U form factor houses sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays for SAS or SATA drives, leaving eight bays open for future storage growth. Twelve memory slots remain partially populated, allowing simple capacity upgrades. PCI Express slots accept additional RAID, networking, or acceleration cards. Front bezel and rack rails are not included, so plan for separate mounting hardware if deploying in a standard rack.

Align the notches, lower each CPU gently, close the load plate, then secure the lever. The step often missed is applying the correct torque to the heat-sink retention screws in a diagonal pattern so pressure stays even across the die.
The controller uses a 2GB cache backed by a battery. That battery degrades over time and must be replaced when the controller logs a cache-battery warning, otherwise write-back caching disables and performance drops.
The dual 750W platinum supplies cap total output at 750W with one unit failed. Heavy SAS or SSD write streams across many bays can hit that power ceiling before the 12Gb/s SAS bus saturates.
