Dell PowerEdge T430 server for office workloads

The Dell PowerEdge T430 is a tower server configured with two Intel Xeon E5-2695 v4 processors running at 2.1GHz with 18 cores each. It includes 256GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32GB modules. The system uses the Intel C610 chipset and supports up to 384GB across 12 slots. Dual 750W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power.

Suits small offices needing collaborative file

This server fits small office and remote branch locations that run workgroup collaboration, mail, file, print and web serving workloads. The integrated Broadcom 5720 dual-port 1GbE controller and iDRAC 8 Express remote management support these roles. Buyers who require installed hard drives, front bezel, ready rails or plastic feet should source those separately. Organisations needing more than two processors or memory beyond 384GB cannot expand this chassis further.

PERC H730 controller with 1GB cache defines

The Dell PERC H730 mini controller provides 12Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity with 1GB battery-backed cache. It supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Eight 3.5-inch drive trays accept SAS or SATA hard drives or SSDs, but no drives are included. The controller choice determines which RAID levels and drive interfaces are available.

Questions about this item

What thermal limit appears first when both Xeon E5-2695 v4 CPUs run at 3.3 GHz Turbo under sustained load?

The 750 W Platinum power supplies set the ceiling; if combined draw exceeds 750 W the system will throttle to stay within the supply rating.

How loud are the fans when the 18-core processors and 256 GB DDR4 run continuously?

Fan speed ramps with CPU and memory temperature; expect noticeable airflow noise in a quiet office once both 2.1 GHz Xeons sustain heavy utilisation.

Which drives and caddies must I supply to populate the 8-bay 3.5" chassis?

You need 3.5" SAS or SATA drives and Dell 3.5" drive trays; the PERC H730 controller supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 but no drives are included.
