A 5U tower server with dual 14-core Xeon Gold 5120 processors at 2.2GHz, 256GB DDR4 ECC memory, a PERC H730P RAID controller and four 1.92TB SATA SSDs across 16 hot-swap bays
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 5120 processors running at 2.2 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32 GB modules. The system supports up to 1 TB of memory across sixteen slots. It targets virtualization hosts, database workloads and software-defined storage clusters.
Two hot-swap 750 watt platinum efficiency power supplies provide redundant power for continuous operation. The server includes sixteen 2.5 inch hot-swap drive bays supporting SAS and SATA devices. Integrated dual-port gigabit Ethernet handles network connectivity. iDRAC 9 Express enables remote management and lifecycle monitoring without requiring an operating system.
The Dell PERC H730P storage controller includes 2 GB of battery-backed cache and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Four 1.92 TB SATA 6 Gb/s solid state drives are installed. Front bezel and ready rails are not included in this configuration. Buyers needing additional drive bays or GPU expansion must verify PCIe slot availability separately.

Slide each drive into a hot-swap bay until the latch clicks; the step often missed is pressing the release button fully so the carrier locks and the controller sees the disk.
The controller uses a 2GB cache battery; plan to replace it when iDRAC 9 reports a battery-learn cycle failure or after roughly three to five years of continuous operation.
The dual 750 watt platinum power supplies set the ceiling; sustained all-core turbo on both 14-core processors can exceed the 750W budget per supply, triggering throttling before the cooling limit is reached.
