A 5U rack server with dual 14-core Xeon Gold 5120 processors at 2.2 GHz, 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory, a PERC HBA330 controller and four 960 GB SATA SSDs in a 16-bay chassis
This 5U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5120 processors at 2.2 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo across 14 cores each. 128 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory fills four of sixteen slots. A Dell PERC HBA330 controller manages four 960 GB SATA SSDs in 2.5 inch hot-swap bays. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy.
Moving from a single-processor platform doubles compute threads and memory channels for heavier consolidation ratios. The sixteen 2.5 inch bays and HBA330 controller replace direct-attached SATA backplanes that limit drive count and RAID flexibility. The jump is worth it when workloads need more simultaneous VMs, larger in-memory databases, or room to grow storage without a second chassis.
This unit is a tower chassis that requires the optional rack conversion kit for cabinet mounting; ready rails and front bezel are not included. Confirm the HBA330 meets your RAID level requirements because it operates in HBA mode without hardware RAID. Ensure your network infrastructure uses the integrated dual-port gigabit adapter or plan for additional NICs. Power cords for the 750 W supplies should match your PDU connectors.

The server is a 5U unit with sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays, so the rack must provide 5U of vertical space and support 2.5-inch drive carriers.
Both LGA 3647 sockets are populated; the common oversight is forgetting to apply the correct torque sequence on the CPU retention brackets before closing the heatsink latches.
The four 960GB SATA SSDs should be monitored for wear-level indicators and replaced once their endurance rating is reached, while the 128GB DDR4-2400 ECC modules only need swapping if a DIMM fails or capacity must exceed 1TB.
